Ancient Rome

The woods are green,

Sweet darling,

But you're so far away,

From me now,

And how long,

Could I stay,

In that moment.

When time,

Seemed to cease,

Almost forever,

Now it just goes,

Like the old,

River flows,

I see the seasons,

Rapid and slow.

I can find joy,

If I listen,

Real hard,

But how can I forget,

When the universe,

Was full,

And expanding,

In slow motion.

With a head,

On my shoulder,

Like a little,

Satellite,

Controlling,

The tide,

Of each moment.

It's easy,

To mock it,

And want to,

Break away,

Especially,

When it's simple,

Like an oncoming,

Wave.

But regaining it,

Now that's the hard part,

It's like trying,

To rebuild,

Ancient Rome.

     Titanic

How many times,

Have I had a dream,

Only to awaken,

And hardly remember,

Sometimes it's hard,

To really know,

Whether I'm awake,

Or dreaming again.

The Titanic,

Of my passing ships,

Came in a dream,

When my eyes were open,

The Messiah,

Of my inner heart,

Walked up to me,

And I didn't know it.

Then she was gone,

And it seemed too late,

So I made my own dream,

And I searched and waited,

But she disappeared,

Like a faded rainbow,

Or a misty fog,

On a northern shore.

And the randomness,

Of my inner loss,

Left me half inside,

Needing her once more,

So then I moved on,

To a new place,

But with each moment,

I felt her trace.

     Little Town

I remember that summer day,

And how you asked me to come away,

And then I told you,

I felt a little stranded, yeah.

The little town was off the map,

You could wake them all with one loud clap,

So far away, but these hard times,

They felt demanding, yeah.

Way up north I felt so free,

All the memories were far from me,

You said I'd be better in the city,

But then I told you, yeah.

First time I saw her was on Main Street,

Later on we finally did meet,

Then I knew I'd be staying up here,

Enjoy your ride home, yeah.

Heading home now don't make much sense,

I enjoy the old picket fence,

Mowing lawns and trimming trees,

I'll get by up here.

So tell them all that I said hello,

And you know I hate to see you go,

This old mountain and these old crows,

That's where I belong.
