I'm A Whiner is my new and unexpected Rock Masterpiece! This album just sort of happened quite unexpectedly. The songs were all written in a fairly short time. The songs come in bunches, usually, and it was the same process with these. Not all of the songs that are written in these bunches, which can be written within several weeks to a month or so, always make it to the next album. But many of them do. The title track is, I guess, the metal song and metal masterpiece I always wanted to write. It's theme is that of social discord, between different groups in our society, and how we all have become whiners! The second track is, I'm proud to say, my most spontaneous and catchy pop rock love song that I've ever written. So, as you can see, with just the first two tracks, I'm already setting my own personal records!! The great tracks just keep coming. Same Old Story is another hard rock song that I never dreamed I could come up with! It has a bunch of overlapping electric guitars and has an innocence and charm that's irresistible! New Times is about the pandemic and how it has affected our lives in so many ways. There are some great love songs, with a lot of irony and regret, as I always have, but all of these songs have a great beat and a whole LOT of Electric Guitar. The final song is a ballad, and guess what, it's my first song with an orchestra! You gotta hear that one. Therefore, without further ado, may I introduce to you my new amazing rock masterpiece, I'm A Whiner!! Enjoy!! Rick
Hidden Treasures
1.Once You've Loved- This is a real old-fashioned ballad, with some great electric guitar work from yours truly! It's very old school, quite unique and a one of a kind track. Very special indeed!
2.Forget the Dream- This is another great track from my 2014 album It Was You. It has a great flow to it,with a very full and deep sound! It has some great piano work from John Conahan. Again, some great and emotional electric guitar work from me,and my vocal sounds real good. I think we used a special mike for the vocal. This track is epic;I love it.
3.Your Heart is in My Heart- This is one of my bigger productions, with Tom Hampton on a powerful lap steel and John Conahan on a big piano! It's a great rock ballad with a big beat, supplied by my usual drummer, the one and only Tony Green! It's got a big sound and a great flow to it. The song is about the trials and tribulations of a long-term relationship.
4.Only One Way- This track is a great acoustic song with a beautiful and creative dobro from Tom Hampton. It's a very simple, but unique track and it has a wonderful flow to it! It's emotional, but packs a nice punch to it also. When we first recorded this song, and I first listened to it, it really blew me away!
5.My Sweet Angel- This song is quite simple;one acoustic guitar track and my vocal. It has a very live feel to it! I love the chord progression and it has a real nice and natural flow to it. There's a peaceful quality to it. After all, it's about a real living angel!
6.I Can't Go Back- This is one of my all-time favorite original songs! It's very straight forward and quite simple. Just my acoustic guitar and my vocal. It's quite personal and emotional. I like the way my voice sounds;very honest and vulnerable. A wonderful song! I'm so lucky to have written it!
7. Little Town- I considered this song from the album It Was You, a big step forward in my lyric writing, because it actually tells a story. I based the song on my experiences at Ithaca, New York, which always seemed like a cozy little place to run away to and start a new life. I wrote this song quite spontaneously, meaning the chords and melody and basic lyrics all came at once. It also features John Conahan on piano and Tom Hampton on lap steel. It's got a special sound, and I was very pleased with it when we did it.
